Golden Bears fall to Marauders

The KU men's basketball team fell to Millersville 99-88 tonight at Keystone Hall, bringing their season to a close. The Golden Bears were the East's number-two seed in the PSAC Playoffs, but the loss to the Marauders brings their season to a close. KU finishes the season with a 19-9 overall record. Check back for a full recap tomorrow.

Seems like KU Basketball is doomed to lose. Why can they not get in (or past ) the first playoff game??? Something is wrong here with both men and women. They do not know how to win important games. SAD SAD SAD.

Millersville really came to play last night, so it's hard to blame KU. With that said, you make a good point. The basketball teams haven't won a first round playoff game in years and it really is too bad. The men had a great team this year and in two hours it all came to an end. At least all 5 starters return in 08!

BUT will they return to WIN, like Millersville, etc. Or will they not really be pepared when it really matters? The girls should be good also they have 3 starters returning and with Wisemiler and Dovey and the others, they should be good and they won't all be too young. can't wait to see how they do.

No offense to the ladies, but I'm much more excited about the men's team. At least the men have proved they can beat the league's best teams. When is the last time the women even contended with the top teams out west? Certainly not since I've been at KU.
The men's team played great this season, but they had some bad luck in the playoff seeding. Millersville was on fire Tuesday and, yes, I honestly believe it is as simple as that.
You cannot doubt KU is as good as MU and Cheyney. The thing is, the teams are just so even that whichever team has the better night will win.
If Cheyney, Millersville, and KU played each other 10 times, I believe it would be 5-5 records across the boards.

I agree with you the mens teams have been better since I have followed KU, for the most part, but the women have such good athletes and can't seem to win. Its a shame. Why, as you stated before, would their coach be safe with her job if she cannot get the teams to produce? It has to be her telling them the plays, I've seen HS coaches pull off tougher games??? Turn overs cannot be her fault unless she has them so nervous they can't make good decisions???

I would never say it is 100% the coaches fault, but there is certainly blame to go around.

At times, I sit there thinking "What the [enter explicative here] was [enter player name here] thinking on that play?"

Then other times its "This girl is so talented. Why is she being limited by the gameplan?"

This wouldn't even be an issue if we were winning, but were not, so I understand your concerns.

When your hot your hot and when your not you don't get that cridical three pointer or are day dreaming and not seeing what defence the other team has.
The men's team will be #1 PSAC East pick in the 2009 preseason with all their starting players returning.
The women's team will be in a rebuilding year(s). Thank god for Lori.

Who is LORI ????

I was thinking the same thing. Haha. I'm assuming you meant Lara?

If you did, I wouldn't consider her the savior. She is a great player, but she can't stay healthy. If I was going to say "Thank God" for someone, it'd be Ms. McQuade. The tandem of her, Lara, and Rachel should be decent next season. Hopefully Meredith, Viv, Claire, Katie, Lisi, Chauntelle, and the freshman can do their part as well.
